NORMAN — Gabe Ikard tweeted this afternoon that he’d “never buy something associated with UT.”

So how did the former Oklahoma center get his hands on a burnt orange Longhorns sticker to add — upside down, of course — to his East-West Shrine Game helmet? Former Texas defensive back Carrington Byndom hooked him up.

Ikard and Byndom are teammates on the West team — along with former OU running back Brennan Clay — for Saturday’s game in St. Petersburg, Fla.

A little after noon Thursday, Ikard sent out a tweet with a picture of his helmet, to which he added an upside-down Longhorns sticker.

After the picture went viral, the former Sooner clarified that Byndom had provided him with the sticker, which, naturally, upset some of the Texas faithful.

Ikard won the first three Red River Rivalry games of his career, but Texas bested the Sooners in 2013 with a 36-20 upset victory.

In other news, Ikard was added to the list of Senior Bowl participants Thursday. He’ll join former Sooners Jalen Saunders and Aaron Colvin in the annual event, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, in Mobile, Ala.
