Urgent – Winter Weather Message from the National Weather Service, Norman

For:  Noble-Roger Mills-Custer-Blaine-Kingfisher-Logan-Payne-Beckham- Washita-Caddo-Canadian-Oklahoma-Lincoln-Grady-McClain-Cleveland- Pottawatomie-Seminole-Hughes-Harmon-Greer-Kiowa-Jackson-Tillman- Comanche-Stephens-Garvin-Murray-Pontotoc-Coal-Cotton-Jefferson- Carter-Johnston-Atoka-Love-Marshall-Bryan counties:

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until midnight CST tonight.

* Main impact: Periods of freezing drizzle and light freezing   rain…sleet and snow will continue to affect southern and   central Oklahoma…and western north Texas. A light glaze of ice   and sleet with snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches will be   possible. This wintry precipitation will result in extremely   hazardous driving conditions across the area. Avoid travel if  possible.

* Other impacts: Along with the wintry precipitation… gusty   north winds will create wind chills below zero during the day   today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

Be careful if you have to travel. Even small amounts of ice and snow can make roads and sidewalks slick and dangerous.

For: Major-Garfield-Dewey counties:

The National Weather Service in Norman has upgraded the winter weather advisory to a winter storm warning for snow and sleet accumulations…which is in effect until midnight CST tonight.

* Timing: Snow…heavy at times…will develop during the day   today and continue through the evening hours tonight. Snow may   occasionally mix with sleet…but moderate to heavy snow will   become increasingly likely by mid to late afternoon.

* Main impact: Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are   expected.

* Other impacts: Along with the wintry precipitation… gusty   north winds will create wind chills below zero during the day   today. wear extra layers to protect from frostbite.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

Avoid travel. Be sure you can take care of yourself and your family if you lose electrical power. monitor weather forecasts and information.

For: Harper-Woods-Alfalfa-Grant-Kay-Ellis-Woodward counties:

A winter storm warning remains in effect until midnight CST tonight.

* Timing: Snow…heavy at times…will develop during the day   today and continue through the evening hours tonight.

* Main impact: Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are   expected…especially from near Gage and Buffalo east to   Woodward.. Alva… Cherokee… Medford and Ponca City.

* Other impacts: Along with the wintry precipitation… gusty   north winds will create wind chills below zero during the day   today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

Avoid travel. Be sure you can take care of yourself and your family if you lose electrical power. Monitor weather forecasts and information.
