NORMAN — Improv Festival Oklahoma celebrates its fifth anniversary this weekend with performances and workshops at the Sooner Theatre, 101 E Main.

Shows run every hour and a half from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday, with brief intermissions in between.

Also, workshops will be offered throughout the day Friday through Sunday at the Norman theater.

Improv Festival Oklahoma was created to showcase local improv talent and bring performers from around the country to Oklahoma for workshops, performances, and collaboration.

In its fifth year, IFO features performers from around the country, including headliners from Minneapolis, New York and Austin, Texas.

Oklahoma groups on the 2013 lineup include Homemade Fireworks and Red Letters, both of Tahlequah; One State Two State Red State Blue State and Everybody and Their Dog, both of Oklahoma City; O.U. Improv! of Norman; and host troupe Red Dirt Improv, whose members hail from OKC and Norman.

In addition, this year’s festival will mark the debut Friday night of a special competition show in which the audience will vote for which performer is the funniest and who is eliminated.

Tickets and information, including complete show lineups, are available at www.festival.reddirtimprov.com.
