OCU proposes 2 new programs

Oklahoma City University officials are trying to add two doctoral programs to the school’s curriculum.

The university’s board of trustees recently proposed creating doctor of nursing practice and doctor of nursing philosophy programs.

They must be approved in 2009 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Professor is up for award

MIDWEST CITY — A Rose State College professor has been named as a finalist for the National Book Award.

Tim Tharp was nominated in the young adults division for his book "The Spectacular Now," which is being released today.

The book is about a partying high school senior who tries to tempt a social outcast into a life involving alcoholism.
