Hearing set for teacher
A preliminary hearing has been set for a Stilwell High School teacher charged with sexually assaulting two female students. Sean Lee Catron, 38, will appear in court on Dec. 9 to determine whether he’ll be tried on three counts of second-degree rape and one count of sexual battery. Prosecutors contend the acts occurred earlier in the year at the school and at Catron’s residence.

Girl improves after attack
An 18-month-old girl who was attacked by a pair of pit bull terriers has improved to good condition. A spokeswoman at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa said Brittany Goodroad has bites and cuts to her face. Her 4-year-old brother, Tyler, also was attacked by the dogs and has been released from the hospital. Tulsa County deputies said the children were at a relative’s home in north Tulsa County when the 80-pound dogs knocked down a door and attacked them.Intimidation is alleged
The wife of a former Tulsa doctor has been charged with threatening two witnesses in an effort to cover up child sex abuse charges against her husband. Carrie Ann Smith faces two counts of preventing a witness from giving testimony and is free on $20,000 bail. Her husband, Kirk Smith, was arrested in July and charged in September with sexually abusing a minor.Death brings life sentence
A Tulsa man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2006 hammer beating death of a 68-year-old man during a robbery. A Tulsa County jury convicted Billy Gene Marshall, 55, on Thursday for the first-degree murder of Alonzo Tibbs Jr. Prosecutors maintained Marshall beat Tibbs with a hammer on June 14, 2006.
