Home market fears persist

Homebuilders’ confidence in housing recovery sank to a new low this month, reflecting worries over the U.S. financial crisis. The National Association of Home Builders housing market index tumbled five points to nine in November.

Drilling ban may weaken

House Democrats have no interest in restoring the broad ban on oil and gas development off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts but will seek to "delineate areas available for drilling” next year, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland said Tuesday. Some limits will be pursued, he said.
