Free beauty event is Saturday

BeautyIS, a free event for girls 11 to 14 years old, will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at LoveWorks Center, 127 W Main. University of Oklahoma students and women from the community are volunteering at the event aimed at helping girls and young women discover the true definition of beauty and learn how to celebrate their inner beauty. Brooke Hamilton, the reigning Miss University of Oklahoma, and Bola Ibidapo, the 2013 OU African Queen, will be guest speakers. Sponsors of BeautyIS are Oklahoma Women’s Coalition and Kiwanis Club of Norman.

Workshop set for addiction counselors

Norman Addiction Information & Counseling, a United Way of Norman agency, will sponsor a workshop on “Supervision Ethics” from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. May 2 at NAIC, 215 W Linn St. The workshop will feature a discussion about the developmental processes involved with supervision; the relationship between anxiety and ethical capacity; and how to apply the principles of therapeutic relationships to the supervision process. Leah Taylor, a licensed marital and family therapist, will lead the workshop. Training is approved for three continuing education credits for licensed counselors and social workers.
