Animal park may close
NORMAN — The director of the nonprofit Little River Zoo in southeast Norman said the zoo may have to close
because of dwindling revenue. "Resources have run out financially. The only thing left is to put a second mortgage on my home,” said
Janet Sadler-Schmid, director of the zoo, located at 3405 120th Ave SE. The zoo is home to 350 animals and has 20 to 30 employees, which mostly are part-timers. Sadler-Schmid said the zoo has cut back on hours for its staff, and she fears she will not be able to make the next payroll.
