Russian leader, Obama talk

CHICAGO — President-elect Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev spoke Saturday on the phone, and the two leaders "expressed the determination to create constructive and positive interaction for the good of global stability and development,” according to a Kremlin statement.

U.S.-Poland ties are discussed

Hamas is ready to open talks

LONDON — Hamas is ready to open talks with Barack Obama, who must deal with the militant group if he wants to address the conflict in the Middle East, group leader Khaled Mashaal said Saturday. Hamas has controlled the Gaza Strip since June 2007.
