OKLAHOMA CITY

Sentence comes in deadly crash
An Oklahoma City man pleaded guilty Monday to causing a deadly traffic accident in February. Terry Lee Gathers now faces up to life in prison for first-degree manslaughter. He will be sentenced Feb. 6. Gathers, 31, was driving south Feb. 18 on Council Road near NW 63 when he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with two cars, according to court papers. A passenger in one of the cars, Cuc Thi Tran, 66, died at the scene. Gathers was interviewed at a hospital following the accident, the affidavit states. His speech was slurred; he had trouble staying awake, and his mother told police he was under the influence of various drugs. Gathers has previous convictions on three counts of felony drug possession with intent to distribute, two from 1999 and one from 2003, according to court papers.

Police seek clues in shooting
Police are searching for answers in Oklahoma City’s 57th homicide of the year. About 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to an apparent single-car accident at NW 122 and Pennsylvania Avenue. He had been shot, and the car appeared to have been shot multiple times, Balderrama said. Police are trying to determine a motive and develop suspect information, Balderrama said.
