ATTORNEY REPRIMANDED

The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Tuesday publicly reprimanded a Midwest City attorney for violating rules governing professional conduct. Tom J. Wilcox was found not to have deposited checks from clients into a trust account and that he held two temporary total disability checks that belonged to a client. The Supreme Court also scolded the Oklahoma Bar Association for its handling of the investigation. The association, which had sought a private reprimand against Wilcox, did a poor job of organizing information and has "unnecessarily complicated our review of this case,” the high court said.

LEGISLATORS OPPOSE BILL
The health care reform bill working its way through Congress would cause financial hardships on Oklahoma’s state government, Senate President Pro Tempore Glenn Coffee and House Speaker Chris Benge said Tuesday. They called on Oklahoma’s congressional delegation to vote against the bill. "We are already facing unprecedented fiscal challenges in Oklahoma with the national economy in its current condition,” said Coffee, R-Oklahoma City, "and adding the unfunded mandates on Medicaid that this bill will impose on us will be catastrophic to our budget, and to states across the nation.”
