Incognito-Martin report on Dolphins' workplace released Published: February 14, 2014

The NFL released the independent investigation into the Miami Dolphins workplace harassment claims, which were made by offensive lineman Jonathan Martin on Friday morning.

Martin claimed that fellow offensive lineman Richie Incognito had a good side he liked and a bad side he loathed, and at times both he and Incognito described their relationship as “bipolar.”

The report is saddening on numerous occasions, particularly texts sent from Martin to his parents where he describes the abuse he faced from Incognito and teammates.

One of Martin's texts to his mother:

"I care about my legacy as a professional athlete. But I’m miserable currently. A therapist & medication won’t help me gain the respect of my teammates. I really don’t know what to do Mom.

". . . I just always avoid confrontation, which is what I’ve always done, and that leads to [people] perceiving you as soft. I did it at Stanford, and didn’t gain anyone’s respect until I became a star."
