DeadCENTER Film Festival screens short films on the first Wednesday of every month at the XO Lounge in the Colcord Building in downtown Oklahoma City. This year-round program, dubbed "shortsSUITE,” has featured the best short films from previous festivals and is free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, deadCENTER will adjust the format to focus more directly on Oklahoma filmmakers, showcasing their work and giving them an opportunity to speak.

"We want to stay connected with Oklahoma filmmakers and give them a chance to talk about their process,” Program Director Melissa Scaramucci said. "We've had the same format for a few years, so the time for a change has come.”

Singletree Productions will kick off the event. Formed in early 2006 by Mark Potts and Cole Selix of Norman, Singletree has made many short films as well as viral content for YouTube, where they currently have more than 75 videos online. One short, "Building Imagination,” played at more than 10 film festivals around the world and finished in second place in the IFC Short Film contest. In 2007, they produced their first feature film, "The Stanton Family Grave Robbery,” which premiered at the deadCENTER Film Festival in June.

"It cost around $5,500 to produce but looks like a solid $30,000 film,” director Mark Potts said.

For shortsSUITE, Singletree Productions will premiere their newest short, "Hitboys to Men.” The film follows Xander, an Xbox junkie who is not living up to his father's expectations. When the Xbox breaks, Xander goes to unusual lengths to get the cash necessary for a new box and new respect from his dad.

"Giving filmmakers an opportunity to test new work is part of the support deadCENTER likes to provide. The Singletree guys consistently deliver funny, charming films — they really maximize what young filmmakers can do in Oklahoma,” Scaramucci said.

Doors for "deadCENTER Presents shortsSUITE … A Night With Singletree Productions” open at 8:15 p.m. and the program begins at 8:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Attendees must be 21 to enter.
