Continental Resources Inc. has added energy industry advocate Mike Cantrell as its vice president of government and regulatory affairs, the oil company announced Wednesday.
Cantrell is president of the Domestic Energy Producers Alliance, an industry advocacy group founded by Continental CEO Harold Hamm.
‘A true visionary'
“Mike Cantrell is a true visionary in America's energy industry,” Hamm said. “Through his leadership of numerous industry groups, Mike has played a key role in promoting America's oil and natural gas resources and, in effect, he has helped create thousands of jobs and significantly increase America's energy independence.”
Cantrell joined Continental in February.
“I wouldn't do this for any other American but Harold Hamm,” he said. “He's just a unique individual. Harold's not content just to run a company. He wants to change the world, and I appreciate that.”
Cantrell said he is looking forward to continuing his advocacy efforts with Continental.
Cantrell has owned and operated his own oil and natural gas companies. He also has run a political consulting and fundraising business for the last 10 years or so.
