Infant Crisis Services opens first satellite offices in OKC
Nonprofit agency Infant Crisis Services opens two satellite offices — one in southwest Oklahoma City and one in northwest Oklahoma City — to serve more people throughout the metro. Transportation is an issue for many clients trying to get to the home office near the state Capitol.
Supporters of Infant Crisis Services gathered Friday morning to celebrate the upcoming opening of two satellite offices for the nonprofit dedicated to helping poor children in the metro area.

The new offices will likely lead to an additional 4,000 infants receiving food and diapers this year, Executive Director Miki Farris said.
About 12,000 infants were helped last fiscal year.
Farris predicts a 50 percent increase in clients this year. She expects about 14,000 children will receive services at the main office this year, and another 2,000 will likely be seen at each of the two new locations.
"This is really going to expand our abilities to help families all over the community," she said.
Transportation is a problem for many of the agency's clients. Farris said she hopes the satellite offices will ease that burden.
The satellite locations will be open by appointment from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning next week.
The office at Variety Care, 4023 NW 10, will be open Tuesdays.
The office at Integris Southwest Medical Center, 4200 S Douglas, will be open Thursdays.
All appointments will be scheduled through the agency's main office, 4224 N Lincoln Blvd., by calling 528-3663.
Food, formula and diapers will be available at all locations, Farris said, but clothing and other extras will only be given away at the main office for now.
Branching out has been a long-term vision for Infant Crisis Services. Choosing the locations and partner agencies took careful planning and research, Farris said.
The areas were selected based on a study of client ZIP codes.
"Most nonprofits," Farris said, "you don't do anything very quickly because you have to be really thoughtful about what you do because you're spending other people's money."
