Josh Kivett said the money from the Northern Lights PAC would be donated to the Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity and the Tulsa affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

"This personal decision is an easy one because it is the right thing to do,” Kivett said.

Inhofe, R-Tulsa, was among a handful of Republican senators to rid themselves of Northern Lights PAC money a day after Stevens, of Alaska, was indicted on seven felony counts of making false statements on his financial disclosure reports. According to the U.S. Justice Department, Stevens hid $250,000 in gifts and services from an Alaska-based energy company.

Ivan Holmes, chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, had called on Inhofe to return the money, saying Tuesday that Inhofe had accepted contributions from Stevens' PAC even though the Alaska senator had been under federal investigation for the past year.

Inhofe donates some bribe money seems to be the gist of the story, I guess. In his career, Jim Inhofe has received over $1,750,000.00 from PACs and individuals related to the energy/natural resources sector according to opensecrets.org. This campaign year, he comes in second for most contributions to a non-Presidential candidate. Oklahoma Veterans have noted Jim Inhofe has opposed any and all bill that would benefit veterans. Hopefully our local media will dutifully inform voters of these very serious failings of our current incumbent Senator.

Inhofe worked in the private sector long before he entered into politics. People say that someone new will get more done, why dont we look at the perks that we receive as Oklahomans from having a high ranking senator. We forget so quickly that Inhofe has brought a lot of money to Oklahoma as well as kept our military bases from being closed.

I certainly agree that it's interesting to see a person opposed to 'big government' draw a government paycheck for 31 years (1967 to 1977 + 1987 to 2008.)

You tell them Laura. I almost refuse to hear any argument from someone who is too lazy to go vote.

Brock: do you honestly think that today's Republican party isn't "big government?" the party that legislates morality, squanders billions of dollars every year on failed policies, and achieves a level of cronyism that i've not had the displeasure to see before?

Michael - For your information, Thomas Jefferson one of our "Founding Fathers" was in political office from 1769 to 1801. That's ten years on Inhoff.

He represents Oklahomans very well. If the Democrats didn't drag up big government, liberal, socialists all the time, maybe they'd win every once in awhile. Considering they picked the same kind this time,(Andrew Rice) we'll be sending Mr. Inhofe back to Washington.

Vote him out if you don't like him. It's as simple as going to vote. Don't complain about someone being in office too long and then sit on your duff on voting day.

Inhofe is a career politician and he has been living off the taxpayer's dime for over 22 years. It is time to fire him and send him packing! Our founding fathers never intended for people to go to Washington DC and stay forever and it is high time we voted all the incumbents out! It is time for some new blood and new ideas.
