LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say an inmate has escaped from a minimum-security state fire camp in the Angeles National Forest near Azusa.

The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/Qsb9aW ) reports Monday that 20-year-old Rafael Ortega walked away from the Julius Klein Conservation Camp.

Ortega was last seen shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday at his bed. He is serving a three-year, eight-month sentence for possession of a firearm by an ex-felon.

The camp houses about 125 inmates who work on hand crews under the supervision of state and county fire officials.
