Warden's assistant Terry Crenshaw says Fredrick B. Zimmer was pronounced dead shortly after midnight Monday. Crenshaw says Zimmer's cause of death is still unknown but officials believed he died of natural causes.

A local newspaper reports that Zimmer was serving a 10-year prison sentence out of Noble County. He was convicted in March 2010 of rape by instrumentation, forcible sodomy and two counts of lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child younger than 16.

Crenshaw says Zimmer was transferred to the McAlester prison's medical unit earlier this month. Previously, he was serving his sentence at the Jess Dunn Correctional Center in Taft.
