→Can Carmelo Anthony’s hot start be attributed to working out with celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson, who has trained Hollywood stars like Jennifer Lopez, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Kim Bassinger and Halle Barry? Anthony spent six weeks this summer working with Peterson in LA.
Manu Ginobili catching a bat at a game last week inspired a
San Antonio brewery to give away one free beer after a Spurs win as long as Ginobili doesn’t catch a free-tail bat. The brewery also will donate $1 in each patron’s name to Bat Conversation, International.
A beefed up
Chris Bosh is improving his stock for free agency next summer. Bosh, having added 15 to 20 pounds of upper body bulk, is off to a sensational start. Bosh ranks among the league scoring and rebounding leaders.
Golden State probably won’t trade embattled guard
Stephen Jackson until after Dec. 15 when players signed as free agents last summer can be traded. They might wait until the market heats up at the Feb. 18 trading deadline.
Utah once again is battling injuries.
C.J. Miles (left thumb surgery) and
Kyle Korver (left knee surgery) likely are out until December. The Jazz lost a combined 149 player games to injuries last season.
