U.S. Attorney John C. Richter announced that 43-year-old Renee Island was sentenced Wednesday on her federal convictions for conspiracy and embezzlement.

Island was convicted in January of taking funds from the casinos in 2003, while she was secretary to the chairman of the Cheyenne-Arapaho business committee.

Eight other people have been convicted in the FBI's ongoing investigation into the business committee's financial activities.
