NORMAN — Investigators are asking for help identifying a woman’s body found in a shallow grave near Lake Thunderbird six years ago.
The woman’s body was found in August 2008, and the medical examiner determined the body had been there between three months and a year.
She is described as white, possibly with American Indian heritage, 5 feet 5 inches tall, between 30 and 45 years old and had given birth to at least one child.
The woman had a sunburst tattoo covering a large part of her back. A forensic artist with the bureau did a reconstruction of the woman’s face in an attempt to make a positive identification. DNA tests attempting to identify the woman have not succeeded.
“We’re hoping someone can identify her because we’ve run though all the other leads,” OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown said.
Anyone with information on the woman is asked to call OSBI at (800) 522-8017.
