LAWTON — Authorities in Lawton say a weekend fire at a mental health facility is being investigated as a possible arson.

The fire happened Saturday night at the Jim Taliaferro Mental Health Facility.A local television station reports the fire was started with a stack of papers in a closet in the facility's outpatient area.

Lawton fire investigator Chris Woodall says the fire was quickly extinguished, but residents and staff were forced to evacuate the building.

The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, which oversees the facility, says it's working with investigators to determine how the fire started.

Woodall says investigators have a person of interest in the case but no one has been arrested.
