DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Wild got off to a fast start in its first season.
Goaltender Johan Gustafsson made 27 saves to earn a shutout, and Brett Bulmer scored a second-period goal as the Wild beat the Oklahoma City Barons 1-0 on Saturday night.
The AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild moved from Houston to Des Moines in the offseason, and the Wild opened its schedule at home in front of 10,213 fans at the Wells Fargo Arena.
Barons goalie Richard Bachman stopped 28 shots. Iowa and Oklahoma City play again at 4:05 p.m. Sunday.
