Irene Trask, standard-setting Oklahoma Senior Olympian, dies at 106

Almost 95 when she finally gave up square dancing, Irene Trask needed a new outlet for her energy.

But had somebody else not suggested it, shot putting and javelin-hurling most likely would not have been at the top of her list.

“She met a new friend -- a retired school teacher -- at a senior center, and he brought the idea up,” said Trask’s son Jim Sturges.
