Is YouTube shutting down for a decade? Published: April 1, 2013

Don’t worry YouTube fanatics. You’re favorite video-viewing site isn’t going dark for a decade.

The company’s announcement Sunday that it was merely an eight-year contest to find the best video was an April Fool’s prank, according to Discovery News.

As part of the prank, YouTube said it would close at the end of the day and announce the best video submission in 2023.
