ITC Great Plains submits plan for Oklahoma high-voltage transmission lines
ITC Great Plains filed a proposal with regional grid operator Southwest Power Pool to add five new electricity transmission lines, including two that would cross parts of Oklahoma.
Electricity transmission utility ITC Great Plains LLC wants to add five more high-voltage lines, including two in Oklahoma, the company said Wednesday in a proposal with a regional transmission organization.
ITC Great Plains filed a proposal with the Southwest Power Pool to add high-voltage transmission lines that would carry electricity from the western part of the regional grid to the eastern part.
ITC's proposal consists of five 345-kilovolt transmission lines in seven states.
One would start in western Oklahoma and travel across the northern section of the state to south-central Missouri. Another would start in west Texas, cross into southern Oklahoma and end in southwest Arkansas. Other lines would go from Kansas to Missouri; Kansas to Iowa; and Nebraska to Iowa.
The company submitted the proposal as part of SPP's 20-year plan to add more high-voltage transmission lines. The plan, called Integrated Transmission Planning Year 20 Assessment, should be finalized by July.
