NORMANKent Bradford, the father of Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, said his son is taking the time to make sure his decision about whether to stay in school or declare for the NFL Draft is the right one.

"I think he kind of knows what he would like,” Kent told The Oklahoman in a phone interview Tuesday. "He’s just trying to be sure that his choice is the actual proper choice.”

Kent said he didn’t know when his son would make an announcement — nor disclose what the announcement would be — but said that it would probably come through the university.

"When he feels it’s right,” Kent said, "he’ll let the right people know.”

Sam, who Kent said received a first-round projection from the NFL Draft Advisory Committee, is projected by most draft analysts to be one of the top two quarterbacks taken in the draft if he comes out.

The Sooners are still also waiting on the decisions of junior tight end Jermaine Gresham and junior offensive tackle Trent Williams, who have both said they’re considering leaving early for the NFL.

Gresham received a first-round projection from the Advisory Committee; Williams, a second-round.

The trio has until midnight Thursday to declare for the draft. Players who declare have 72 hours after the deadline to change their minds, assuming they haven’t hired an agent.

Monday, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy told The Oklahoman that he would not enter the draft and would return to school for his junior season.
