‘We all agreed’
As expected, the final BCS standings had OU at No. 1 and Florida at No. 2 — the reverse order of their rankings in the Associated Press poll — setting up the first meeting between these storied programs.
Other teams had their chances this season, and also finished with one loss: Texas, Southern California, Alabama, Texas Tech and Penn State.
Of them, Texas had the best argument for why it should’ve been playing for the title.
The Longhorns finished in a three-way tie in the nation’s toughest division — the Big 12 South — but were denied a spot in the title game because of the tiebreaker, which looks to the BCS standings.
OU won the tiebreaker. Texas protested.
"They went to a system we all agreed upon before the season,” Stoops said. "If someone didn’t like it, they should have decided to change it before the season, and I’d have played by whatever rules they wanted to play by.”
Instead, Texas finished third in the BCS and AP rankings and will play Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona.
And who outside of Texas would argue that this championship game is a dream matchup?
"Oklahoma’s a traditional power just like Florida is now,” said Steve Spurrier, the former Gators coach who brought Stoops on as his defensive coordinator in 1996.

I actually was hoping for a Texas to be ranked #2....so that we could see some real excitement in the BCS for a change. Not OU's fault.....blame the system. You're just jealous.
10-11-08 is a day that will live in infamy in the modern sports era. We will never forget and we will never let the small minded Sooners forget.
P.S. I'll be posting messages the rest of the year, into next year as well on this website. I won't be reading any other post, my time is too valuable and I could care less what Soonerville thinks of me or the the University of Texas. So go ahead and get personal, and be your ugly selves, I'm not reading.

I HOPE SO!
Oh wait, there's a lot more money involved in college sports.... that changes everything.
Theres a team with 4 losses going to a BCS bowl game simply because they play in a crappy conference, yet an undefeated team was left out.
?????? Anyone else see anything wrong here with the good ol' boy system?
Hopefully that will fire the defense up and they will show up and play to their full potential.
Percy Harvin is going to get his, but OU has to contain Demps, Rainey and James. Those little guys are lightning quick!
Lets go Sooners, end the bowl slump!
