Happy Thanksgiving! Today, as you fill your belly with all the indulgences of Thanksgiving — turkey, dressing, cranberries, pumpkin pie — is your mind on the moment, or are you thinking forward to the shopping season ahead?

Shoppers across the country say they are planning to spend an average of $801 for gifts this holiday season, down from $854 last year, according to the 29th annual survey on holiday spending from the American Research Group Inc.

Will you rise early in the frosty morning to claim your spot in line at your favorite retailer to snag those seemingly unbeatable Black Friday deals?

Will you wait until the next day, Small Business Saturday, to inject your holiday budget into the local economy?

New this year, Downtown in December in the Midtown district near St. Anthony Hospital will feature weekly holiday shopping villages in the form of Holiday Pop-Up Shops. Each weekend will feature a different group of shopping opportunities. For lists of opportunities, go online to okcpopups.com.

Fifteen shops called the Winter Shops are presented daily by Prodigal on the Great Lawn and Sheridan Lawn at the Myriad Gardens. For hours and shop information, go online to www.myriadgardens.org.

Or, perhaps you'll prefer to recline on your couch, laptop computer at hand, to spend your Christmas budget on Cyber Monday as an estimated 43 percent of Americans will, according to American Research Group.

However you prefer to shop, here is a collection of beautiful and thoughtful gifts from locally owned retailers, online stores and some chain retailers to spark your holiday imagination.
