The Australian television movies “Bad Debts” and “Black Tide,” starring Emmy Award winner Guy Pearce as Jack Irish, will be available as a set on Blu-ray and DVD Oct. 1 from Acorn.

The series had its North American debut on the British television-centered streaming service Acorn TV (www.Acorn.TV) in July.

Details on “Jack Irish, Set 1,” provided by Acorn, are as follows:

Guy Pearce (The King’s Speech, Memento, Iron Man 3) stars as the brooding antihero of Australian writer Peter Temple’s award-winning novels in JACK IRISH, SET 1. In these two feature-length movies, Jack is reeling in the wake of his wife’s murder. The former lawyer has reinvented himself as a part-time private investigator and debt collector with a knack for getting into trouble. The series was originally broadcast in Australia on ABC1 in Oct. 2012. A ratings winner in the U.K. and Australia, the series has two more feature-length installments in the works. This combo set includes the DVD and Blu-ray formats of the first two episodes: Bad Debts and Black Tide, plus a 17-min. bonus behind-the-scenes feature ($39.99, AcornOnline.com). Jack Irish is also available as a DVD Single.

When an old client dies after leaving Jack several frantic voicemails, the PI realizes he can¹t outrun or outdrink his past. Jack returns to the world that took everything away from him – ‹a seedy place of lowlifes, corruption, violence, and retribution. In these two feature-length mysteries, Bad Debts and Black Tide, Pearce delivers a “mesmerizing” performance (Daily Record), imbuing Jack with world-weary gruffness and a dash of dark humor. As much as he tries to break away, the underworld is where he thrives – ‹and the only place he can find redemption.
