Jailer dismissed for inappropriate contact with inmate

ALTUS -- Accusations against a Jackson County jailer that included sexual encounters have caused her dismissal, the Altus Times reports.

The newspaper cited an affidavit that detailed incidents ranging from phone calls to sex acts that allegedly occurred at the jail.

Tonya Sue Brand was charged with felony counts of sodomy committed by a government employee and second-degree rape.

Conviction on the sodomy count could result in up to 20 years in prison, while being found guilty on the rape count could result in up to 15 years.
