The Oklahoman's OU football and basketball beat writer Jake Trotter answered questions from readers in today's Power Lunch chat. Read the entire chat recap here. Participate in our Power Lunch chats Monday-Friday at 11 a.m. at NewsOK.com/sports

On how soon to expect the OU men's basketball team to turnaround:

There's a chance next year's team could be slightly better, but it won't be an NCAA Tournament team.

On whether UCO coach Terry Evans has a chance to become OU's next basketball coach:

Very little, but he has a shot I suppose. Buzz Williams is the name I keep hearing, and I have to believe he is the favorite to land the job at the moment.

On players to watch for OU when spring practice starts next week:

Brandon Williams at RB; Gabe Lynn at CB; Daryl Williams at LT; Those are three players to watch.

On the battle to backup quarterback Landry Jones:

The ceiling is higher for [Blake] Bell, but [Drew] Allen has been in the offense two years now and looked pretty good is spot duty last season. I give the edge to Allen right now. Chat Recap: Jake Trotter
