Jake Trotter: OU coaching staff trusts defensive back Aaron Colvin

On OU defensive back Aaron Colvin moving from cornerback to safety:

Weight is not everything. Colvin is a good tackler, and they like the idea of him covering slot receivers and flexed tight ends from the safety spot. Plus, Colvin will put on the weight eventually. He's just a true sophomore. They see Colvin as the next Jonathan Nelson. Corner is a lot easier position to play in Venables' system than safety, and the Sooners trust Colvin there more than guys who haven't played a down.

On OU athletic director Joe Castiglione's search for the next men's basketball coach:

He's already started. He was (is) in Charlottesville, and there are a coaches worth talking to just a 60 mile drive away (Richmond, VCU) who are both in the Sweet Sixteen. He's already been talking to people, trust me.

On freshman running back Brandon Williams:

I kind of compare him to DeMarco [Murray], when he first got to OU, in a lot of ways. At least as far as size. Williams is bigger than Finch/Clay, for sure.

On whether cornerback Jamell Fleming will return after leaving the team earlier this semester:

Tough to say. If you heard Stoops' comments yesterday (when he basically said he didn't think he could talk about Fleming) it didn't sound promising. I've been told Fleming still could come back, but I don't think the Sooners are necessarily counting on it, either.
