A Jay woman was shot in the back of the head during a domestic dispute Tuesday, and police said four children were in the house when it happened.

Vicky King, 33, was taken in critical condition by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa after the shooting happened about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Her medical condition was not available late Tuesday.

King's boyfriend, Donald Tolliver, 37, was arrested near his mother's house about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and taken to the Delaware County jail on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill, said Jessica Brown, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman.

Courthouse was closed

Jay Police Chief Mike Shambaugh would not say whether any of the children witnessed the shooting.

Police found King lying on the floor, Shambaugh said.

Shambaugh said Tolliver went to the Delaware County courthouse to turn himself in, but it was closed Tuesday for the Christmas holidays.

Tolliver then walked to a Subway restaurant and bought a sandwich and was walking toward his mother's home about a block from the courthouse when he was arrested, the police chief said.
