NORMAN — Mired in the program’s longest losing streak in 41 years, Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel opened up Saturday following his team’s 69-54 loss to Texas A&M.

“I haven’t been successful this year,” he said during the postgame press conference. “It's one of the worst jobs — the worst job I've ever done.

“I haven’t been able to push the right buttons.”

Capel couldn’t push the right buttons against the Aggies (22-8, 11-5 Big 12) who coasted to the easy victory after trailing by nine points in the first half.

Forward Khris Middleton led the charge with 15 points. Center Bryan Davis added 10 rebounds, four steals and 13 points, eight of which came on dunks.

OU (13-17, 4-12) fell apart offensively after hitting five of their first seven attempts from 3-point range.

Point guard Tommy Mason-Griffin, who hit a pair of those early 3s, led the Sooners with 16 points.

But he couldn’t prevent OU closing out the regular season with its eighth straight loss, the school’s longest skid since 1969.

OU is also on the verge of its first losing season in 29 years.

“There’s a sense of entitlement with some young kids. ... Kids don’t fear anything. They don’t respect anything.,” Capel said. “But it goes back to me. I’ve done a poor job. I’ve always felt one of my strengths was being able to figure out what buttons to push, how to get best out of guys. I haven’t been able to do that this year.

“It’s been frustrating. Frustrating to me, frustrating for people to watch. It’s embarrassing. I’m ashamed.”

OU’s cause hasn’t been helped by the loss of leading scorer Willie Warren, who missed seven conference games before undergoing season-ending ankle surgery earlier in the week. Saturday's box score
