Jenks safety Steven Parker was named to USA Today’s American Family Insurance All-USA Football Team on Tuesday, adding to his already growing list of accolades following his dominant season for the Trojans.
“It was fantastic,” he said. “I got the Twitter thing from Coach (Allan) Trimble and once I saw that I was like, ‘Wow.’ I had no idea so I looked at it and it was fascinating. It was something that opened my eyes a little bit.”
Parker led Jenks, which also finished 10th in USA Today’s national rankings, to the Class 6A championship and a 14-0 season.
He finished the year with 72 tackles and six interceptions. He also had 34 receptions for 614 yards and nine touchdowns as a receiver.
Parker, who is No. 1 on The Oklahoman’s Super 30, has nearly 30 scholarship offers and hopes to have a decision before signing day on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
