Name: Jennifer Lindsey-McClintock, 31
McClintock is the public information and marketing director for Oklahoma City’s Parks and Recreation Department. She leads a Pilates class for city employees and is part of a yoga class made up of other city employees.
How have you achieved good mental health? “The Pilates class came about as part of a city initiative called ‘Walk With Me OKC’ to promote health and wellness among City employees,” McClintock said. “I volunteered to lead a Pilates class twice a week because I’ve been a student of the exercise form for many years.”
She said strengthening her body with Pilates helps both her mental and physical health.
“It forces me to get up from my desk, and when I come back I feel relaxed, refreshed and ready to dive into my afternoon.”
She has also dabbled in yoga for about 10 years, and has started taking the practice more seriously in the past two years. The city also offers yoga classes for its employees.
“With yoga, like in Pilates, you really become more centered and balanced in your own body.
