Former Stillwater standout Jerame Littell has found his way back to the baseball field at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid this season.

He originally played football at Washburn University, but quickly decided it was time to do something different.

And after two years away from the sport he loves, he’s happy to be back.

“I wasn’t having fun with it anymore and I knew that I missed baseball a lot and I missed my family” Littell said. “That was a small part of it, but more than anything I missed baseball quite a bit. It was tough being away from the sport that I loved and I decided there needed to be a change.”

In Friday’s paper, I wrote about Littell’s younger brother, Jon, who has become one of the state’s top prospects. You can read that here.

Jerame Littell is blossoming on the field as well.

He entered the week with a batting average hovering around .320 with 11 homers and more than 40 RBIs. He’s even picked up a scholarship offer from the University of Texas-Arlington.

“I was kind of rusty at first making the transition from football to baseball,” Littell said. “Baseball is hard enough as it is and not being able to play it for a while and trying to just pick it back up, it was tough. I feel like I’m getting back into the groove a little bit, even though I have a long way to go.”

The possibility of Jerame and Jon playing together at Oklahoma State, where their father Jim coaches the women’s basketball team, was even discussed.

“It’s something that we’ve talked about ever since he graduated and it would be a dream come true,” Jon Littell said. “He’s also getting some professional looks as well, so I think that would be cool as well to maybe get drafted into the same organization. That’s something I would look forward to and may play into my decision.

“He’s my best friend and I think being around him as much as I can would be really special.”
