Just as the second-half was about to start, Houston point guard Jeremy Lin, grimacing in obvious pain, was pulled from the lineup with what the team called a chest injury.

He didn’t play the rest of the night and seemed uncertain about how it happened during his postgame availability.

“This is easily the most frustrating thing that’s happened this entire season,” Lin told the Houston Chronicle. “I’ve been healthy all season. The second half of a playoff game, on the road, we’re playing well, Game 2, it’s just … yeah, it speaks for itself.”

His Game 3 status remains up in the air.

“It was fine as I was sitting here at halftime,” Lin said. “I tried to run out of the tunnel and couldn’t really run. When I did, it would go crazy. We’re supposed to just see what happens tomorrow, how it feels tomorrow. As long as stuff stops spasming, I’m good. I don’t know how any of this stuff works.”

If he can’t go, the Rockets would lose depth, but seem to be in relatively good backcourt shape. Lin has struggled all series, going 4-of-14 overall and 1-of-7 from three in the two tough losses, seeming out of sync.

And young guard Patrick Beverley has emerged as a sudden sparkplug for the Rockets, pestering the Thunder guards and compiling 16 points, 12 rebounds and six assists on Wednesday in extended minutes.

“Jeremy got hurt and I thought Patrick Beverly did a great job out there for us,” Houston coach Kevin McHale said, later calling Beverly a “hard-working, really nice kid.”
