STILLWATER – The Darrell Williams case won't go away quietly just yet.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson is coming to town.
In association with the NAACP, Jackson will lead a public forum Thursday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Mt. Zion Baptist Church (902 S. Knoblock) in Stillwater.
An African-American civil rights activist and Baptist minister, Jackson is well known for rallying behind causes and lending his voice to issues.
On July 23, Williams was found guilty on two counts of rape by instrumentation and one count of sexual battery, stemming from an incident at a party in December of 2010.
Sentencing for Williams, to be determined by the judge, is scheduled for Friday at the Payne County Courthouse. The jury recommended one year of imprisonment for each count of rape by instrumentation and no prison time for the sexual battery charge.
Williams was found not guilty of two other charges of rape by instrumentation.
After the jury verdict was read, Williams broke down, sobbing and banging the table in front of him.
His sister, Alicia, yelled out: “My brother didn't do it.”
