Oklahoma State football: Joesph Randle closing in on another 1,000-yard season

Despite Oklahoma State's “Tailback U” reputation, just five running backs in school history have recorded multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons.

Joseph Randle could become the sixth Saturday against West Virginia. He needs just 66 yards to hit that mark.

“I thought last week was going to be the week I did it,” Randle said. “But it looks like this week is going to be the week. I should be able to get 66 yards, or I'm not doing my job right.”

Terry Miller reached 1,000 rushing yards three times in his OSU career, while Thurman Thomas, David Thompson, Tatum Bell and Kendall Hunter each did it twice.

OPPONENT WATCH

It's no secret that the OSU and WVU offenses will look similar Saturday, as both systems were originally installed by Mountaineer head coach Dana Holgorsen.

But when his Mountaineers square off against the Cowboys, Holgorsen plans to make one important offensive change — the signals used to call plays from the sideline.

“We do it every week, anyway,” Holgorsen said. “I've watched a couple of (OSU's) TV copies here, and I can call out about 90 percent of their plays, so I'd assume that's something that is on their mind as well as it is on our mind.
