MISSOURI

What they said: "I don't think any of our loyal fans really care about how young we are, or how inexperienced we are, or who we lost. They expect to see a good football team, and so that's my job to try to get that done." — Missouri coach Gary Pinkel

Reality check: MU lost Jeremy Maclin, Chase Coffman, Chase Daniel, Jeff Wolfert, their offensive coordinator, their defensive coordinator and only four starters return on defense. So according to fans, the Tigers ought to be pretty darn good.

BAYLOR

What they said: "Injecting new life and being bowl-eligible, I mean, that's what we do. That's the fun part of the profession and the thing that keeps you going ... Where we're at as far as being a bowl-eligible football team, without getting into it, our season will tell. We certainly understand that we're capable of fulfilling that goal, without a doubt." — Baylor coach Art Briles

Reality check: You're darn right we're good enough to go to a bowl game.

KANSAS

What they said: "What Todd has brought to us is stability at that position, and not only stability but excellence. He has gotten better every year because he works at it. He studies tape. He's been able to spark our offense. He's been able to ad-lib at times, which is good once in a while ... The quarterback is the chauffeur. If you don't have a chauffeur, the car doesn't move. He's the guy who makes it roll." — Kansas coach Mark Mangino
