Johnny Manziel texted Cleveland Browns quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains and said "hurry up and draft me.'' Loggains forwarded the text to Jimmy Haslam, who said "pull the trigger,'' according to Loggains.
This is what Loggains said in a radio interview Thursday on Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly on Arkansas ESPN.
"I'm like 'this guy wants to be here. He wants to be a part of it,'" Loggains said. "As soon as that happened, Mr. Haslam said 'pull the trigger. We're trading up to go get this guy.'"
Manziel was selected No. 22 overall by the Browns. The Texas A&M product was passed over with the Browns' first pick after they traded down from the fourth overall pick, then traded up again from No. 9 to get Oklahoma State's Justin Gilbert at No. 8.
