PAPILLION, Neb. — Jon Singleton hit his 10th home run of the season as the Oklahoma City RedHawks topped the Omaha Storm Chasers 3-1 in the opener of a four-game Pacific Coast League series on Friday night at Werner Park.
Andy Simunic and Ronald Torreyes drove in the other runs for the RedHawks. Brett Eibner’s first-inning home run was the big blow for Omaha.
Richard Rodriguez (1-0) worked three scoreless innings to pick up his first win of the year. Josh Zeid worked a perfect ninth to earn his fourth save.
Former major league veteran Brett Tomko (1-3) allowed six hits and three runs in seven innings for Omaha. He struck out five.
The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. Right-hander Bobby Doran (0-1, 7.15 ERA) starts for Oklahoma City, opposed by Omaha lefty John Lamb (0-5, 5.13).
