Jon Singleton's 14th home run lifts OKC RedHawks past Memphis

Jon Singleton hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning as the Oklahoma City RedHawks topped the Memphis Redbirds 8-6 on Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Singleton’s 14th homer of the season, and his second in six games, broke a 6-all tie. He finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBIs, bringing his season total to 43 RBIs.

Memphis built an early 5-0 lead in the series opener in front of a crowd of 10,142. Owasso’s Pete Kozma had two RBIs for Memphis.

RedHawks starting pitcher Jake Buchanan allowed five runs on nine hits in five innings. Reliever Jorge De Leon (1-0) earned the win.

The teams continue the series at 6:05 p.m. Sunday. Right-hander Paul Clemens (3-0, 0.50 ERA) will start for the RedHawks, opposed by Memphis lefty Nick Greenwood (2-2, 2.67).
