Judge stalls Oklahoma law on abortion imaging

A temporary injunction has been granted to keep a law from taking effect today that, among other things, would require women to view an ultrasound of their unborn babies before having an abortion.

About the law

Senate Bill 1878, called the Freedom of Conscience Act, also would protect the rights of health care providers who refuse to take part in abortions; ensure the RU 486 pill, which can end early pregnancy, is used in accordance with federal guidelines; ensure a mother’s consent to an abortion is voluntary and ban lawsuits that claim a baby would have been better off aborted.
