Justice Hansen scores 4 TDs as Edmond Santa Fe tops Edmond North

BY MIKE BALDWIN Published: September 20, 2013

EDMOND — Edlam.

The term was never more appropriate than Friday night when Edmond Santa Fe posted a 38-31 double overtime win over rival Edmond North at Wantland Stadium.

Santa Fe quarterback Justice Hansen accounted for four of the five Wolves touchdowns, the biggest being a 4-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Sanderson on fourth down in the first overtime to extend the game.

“It was a typical rivalry game with ebbs and flows and momentum changes,” said Santa Fe coach Lance Manning. “It's one of those deals there were times it didn't look good for us and times it didn't look good for them. It was exhausting. What an emotional game.”

The Wolves (2-1) took the lead on Ke'Marrie Carter-Hartfield's 3-yard run in the second overtime. The win wasn't secure until Edmond North (1-2) lost two yards on a running play and threw three incomplete passes to run out of downs.

“I told our kids after the game this was a great game to be at,” said Edmond North coach Scott Burger. “It was a lot of fun. It's what high school football is about.”

There were two momentum swings.

Forcing a turnover and four punts on Santa Fe's first five possessions, the Huskies dominated early to lead 13-0 but Hansen produced two touchdowns in the final minute of the first half to start a run of 24 consecutive points.

Hansen's 4-yard run capped an 80-yard drive with 57 seconds left before halftime. The Wolves used their timeouts to get the ball back at their own 40 with 29 seconds left before intermission.
