K2 bedevils law enforcement, prosecutors with ever-changing compounds

Differing variations of leafy substances wrapped in packages with names such as “Black Mr. Devil” sprout up in convenience stores, head shops or mom-and-pop shops and trouble authorities.

The drug, K2, and its unassuming names — synthetic marijuana or spice — belie its nasty effects.

Steve Kunzweiler, chief of the criminal division of the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office, said the harmful effects, ease of availability and misleading branding of K2 make it an alarming drug.
