Kachina dolls are children's Discovery Lab topic at Norman natural history museum

The Oklahoma Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman will host a children's Discovery Lab on kachina dolls, featuring hands-on crafts and exploration of the “Dolls, Dancers and Deities” gallery.

— Students in first through third grades can make kachina dolls in a Discovery Lab on Nov. 3 at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.

Children will learn about kachinas in Southwestern cultures through decorating the dolls, hearing stories and viewing artifacts and exhibits in “Dolls, Dancers and Deities: Kachinas From the James T. Bialac Native American Art Collection.”

The “Dolls, Dancers and Deities” Discovery Lab is $10 for museum members and $15 for nonmembers.

Space is limited, and preregistration is required. To enroll, call 325-1008.
