LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Kansas coach Charlie Weis has hired former Washington offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau to work with wide receivers, a position that was mostly unproductive last season.

Weis recently said that he would handle wide receivers himself after moving Rob Ianello, who had been in charge of the position, to a new role as director of research.

Kiesau spent the past two seasons with the Huskies, helping them to a 9-4 record in 2013. He's also been an assistant at Colorado and California, tutoring Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen and Philadelphia Eagles star Desean Jackson.

Kiesau began his coaching career at Glendale Community College in California, but got his first break in Division I at Utah State, where he handled running backs and wide receivers.
